Companies around the world are constantly looking for ways to streamline their business to create better workflows and more efficient processes. The network manager can help companies maintain their network infrastructure and optimize existing IT systems, as well as provide technical support when network devices or IT systems stop responding. The senior network manager is able to run the network and deal with any network problems. Part of this role is to look at the needs of their organization and determine what kind of system network service would meet those needs. It must then set it up so that it can function while maintaining a high level of security.    

A network manager is a network specialist who helps companies maintain their networks. This can include providing system network service, technical support, troubleshooting network connectivity and other issues, and optimizing the network for the best productivity results. Other responsibilities can include providing technical support for staff and training them to use the system.

The network manager job description may include setting performance metrics and performance levels to monitor network connectivity and meet business requirements. The senior network manager sets policies and procedures for monitoring networks and services in accordance with the company's needs. They may be required to standardize complex network configuration, work with VPN integration, provide enterprise support, work with mobile broadband, and perform other network management tasks. They work with other IT team members such as network engineers, project managers, and other IT staff.

An important part of this job is to serve as a link between the IT team and business colleagues. This collaboration enables the network manager to understand the performance requirements and performance indicators that reflect the needs of the company. Normally, senior network managers work within the IT unit of a company and are responsible for ensuring that the wireless network and wired connection always run smoothly. When performance metrics show that a network is under-performing, they are able to take action to ensure that their team continues to meet the needs of business users. In addition, the organizational dimensions of the workflow of the task must be taken into account, as well as the people involved in managing the network and the procedures they must follow. All these factors are important for the specific function that a network operations manager performs within an organization.  

Senior network managers initiate applications that create blueprints and maps of the entire network. These applications tend to show the performance of a network and the degree of network connectivity between the company's computer networks. These applications are constantly used for monitoring and management purposes, as well as for the management of network infrastructure, network devices and connections, and the system network service.

The network operations manager may also review the services provided by suppliers and sellers and decide on the best options for providing these services to customers and end users. When a provider is selected, the network operations manager negotiates a service level agreement that is necessary to maintain a strong and stable network. Once a specific provider is selected, the manager must negotiate the service levels required to maintain network integrity, including network security, network management, and network connections monitoring. They may work with network interfaces and a VPN connection, ethernet connection, wired connection, mobile broadband, etc. Other responsibilities may include: work with mobile broadband, standardise complex network configuration, manage desktops extended security maintenance, replace legacy app vms, and work with a software collaboration platform.

The network operations manager works in the Information Technology Department and is responsible for ensuring that the wireless networks and wired connections run reliably. They work with local networks that connect computers in a single building, and with larger network areas that connect buildings so that information can flow between sites. While most network positions work in an IT department, such as the IT operations department or the computer systems department, this job is also found in other departments.  

The network operations manager is seen as the head of the IT unit. This role enables them to communicate with the management team as well as with suppliers and other stakeholders in the company. Like any department head, the network operations manager must work with the human resources department to recruit, evaluate, and develop current employees.
